Various Optics Options Available for LED Street Lights

As LED lights are directional, the light from these options is focused. Using optics, you can light up the desired location. These lights feature diodes having individual optics, which discharge light uniformly across surfaces. Thus, optics control illumination patterns by providing the intended beam pattern.

Common road-way light distribution patterns comprise Types 5, 4, 3, and 2. Types 5 and 3 are the usual ones. So, which one will work for you? Let’s perform a photometric for free with various cobra head lighting options to find the perfect lighting solution for you!

Dimmable and Control Ready

Another amazing thing about street lighting options is that they are dimmable. Meaning that users can dim or switch off every fixture if there is no motion happening around. This does not have any effect on the lifespan of LEDs but only extends it further. Plus, dimmed lights employ less electricity and save you more on the lighting bill.

So, consider this. Changing Metal Halides to LEDs, consumers may move from 400W to 120W. If the illumination dims to 10% at night, LEDs then only use 12W. This results in a decrease of about 388W. That’s because HID lamps consume 455W using a ballast draw. So, you save 443 Watts every fixture, which is quite huge!

Our Street LED lights function great with both 7 pin and 3 pin Nema socket-enabled light controls and innovative smart networks.

5000K and 4000K Color Temperatures

We provide Street LED lighting solutions in both 5000K and 4000K color temperature options. 5000K is an ideal replacement for a Metal Halide lamp. Also, 4000K is a nice option for the states that need a slightly warm light. Diverse color temperatures are also available on demand.

Both color temperatures provide a significant enhancement over a High Pressure Sodium light with a 2200K rating. Street LED lights with a Correlated Color Temperature (CCT) up to 4000K or a bit less are perfect to illuminate streets in a residential area. Plus, they emit blue light in small amounts.

80 CRI

Higher CRI - 70+

Another specification that you should consider while purchasing LED street lighting options is the Color Rendering Index (CRI). This index measures the light’s quality that a lighting fixture produces. This is measured on a scale from 0 to 100. An ideal source of light, like the sun, measures 100. The common rule is that we need less quality of light when we have nicer quality. LEDs have higher CRI, which makes the quality a lot better than various conventional lighting sources.

Luminous Efficacy

Luminous efficacy refers to the actual measure of the efficiency of a bulb. This measurement signifies the lumens generated for one watt of electricity used. As compared to traditional bulbs, LED lighting options are more efficient.

Premium quality LEDs feature incredible efficacy ratings. When it comes to the standard efficacy, it goes above 130 lumens each watt.
For calculating luminous efficacy, divide the total number of lumens a bulb produces by the total watts of electricity it uses. LED lighting fixtures having a high luminous efficacy are efficient than the ones having a low luminous efficacy.

L70 Light Maintenance

Lumen maintenance is related to the lifetime of a lighting source. Unlike traditional lights, LEDs never burn out. They preserve initial lumens for longer. What actually happens is the intensity of light gradually fades away but usually. this takes years to happen.

A deterioration of 70% in light output is the point at which a human eye begins to notice a decrease in the light intensity. However, a human eye is just affected if the intensity of a lighting source drops down to 30%.

When you use a lighting source 12 hours a night, our LED Shoebox lighting fixtures will offer maintenance-free, bright lighting for years.

Dark Sky Compliant

Lessened Light Pollution

Conventional street lights may light up sidewalks and streets at night. However, they are known to cause light pollution that leads to extreme outdoor lighting. Also, light pollution is often misdirected. As cities and countries turn out to be more developed, the constant demand for street lighting upsurges the hazard of light pollution.

This pollution happens in various ways, such as light spill (light trespass), glare, light clutter, and sky glow. It affects surroundings as carbon dioxide is emitted out into the atmosphere. As stated by the International Dark-Sky Association, around 12 million tons of carbon dioxide are emitted out by aggressive night time light every year. Also, this association estimates that about 30% of the street lighting is wasted.

Plus, light pollution highly impacts the lifestyle of amphibians, birds, insects, and mammals by affecting their sleeping, mating, feeding, and migration cycles and causing disorientation. LED technology addresses the light pollution issue by evolving lighting fixtures that only focus the light wherever needed.

Change 70W– 1000W Metal Halide

Street LED Lights generate lumens from 3600 to 38,760. Many inner-city street lighting options are low-wattage HPS lamps. We offer high-quality, low-cost street lighting solutions, backed either with a 5-year or 10-year warranty.

We can even provide a photometric evaluation for free of outdoor spaces to convince you how well-performed our street LED lights are, what optics offer the outstanding results, and what light model is perfect for your outdoor space.

Major Problems with Traditional Street Lighting

Higher Energy Usage

First and foremost, the energy consumed by conventional street lights is always higher. Street lighting makes up for about 40% of the complete energy consumption in several cities. Throughout cold weather, conventional bulbs require more energy for producing light.

Light Trespass and Over Lighting

Light trespass happens when street lighting options generate unnecessary light. These lights shine onto head-to-head residential properties. Conventional HID lights cannot produce directional light as LEDs are capable of.

Another issue with traditional HID lamps is over lighting. These lamps cannot dim. Thus, they offer unwanted bright light.

In several cities, street lights function at higher intensity even with a few numbers of cars and pedestrians. Thus, it leads to the wastage of energy and other environmental problems. LED lighting options can be dimmed and controlled for providing illumination when needed.

Maintenance Exhaustive

When it comes to street lighting, another issue is the maintenance of conventional lighting systems. Because of their shorter lifespan, these lights require servicing and re-lamping quite often. One can spend the money spent on buying new fixtures, lamps, or on labor on better things. LEDs could operate well for 10 years without demanding any maintenance.

Bad Quality Lighting

High pressure sodium lights produce yellow light. Also, they feature bad color rendering capability. Therefore, everything appears yellow and brown under them.

Lamp Location

Old-style street lighting distributes unevenly. Lamp posts create wider dark patches because they are far apart from one another. In some locations, critical areas do not feature lamp posts along the street. As cities are developing, lamp locations haven’t been re-assessed.

Street Lighting

Today, street lighting holds as much significance as it used to be some years ago. Conventional street lighting options have been helpful over time. However, they have resulted in several problems for residents, cities, and municipalities.
